DESCRIPTION:Recent years have seen a paradigm shift in the role of structu
 ral non-linearity and elastic instability. Traditionally viewed as undesir
 able and avoided by design\, when understood and controlled to be well-beh
 aved\, structural non linearity can enable novel functionalities\, such as
  shape adaptation for morphing structures. In this talk\, we introduce som
 e recent developments in the design and analysis of well-behaved nonlinear
  structures\, such as the use of sequential\, interacting instabilities in
  the design of a passively-actuated morphing aerospace structure.\n\n\n\n\
