 -going research on gender diversity\, recognition and social change\, Prof
 essor Hines will consider the gains and the losses in understandings and p
 ractices of gender fluidity in the contemporary UK. \n\nSpeaking to the re
 cent tide of anti-transgender activism in the UK within some sections of f
 eminism and aligned conservative movements\, she will critically unpack th
 e current wave of so-called 'culture wars'. She will locate these UK-speci
 fic developments as part of a wider pushback against the rights of gender 
 and sexual minorities at European and International levels and argue for t
 he urgent need to develop a collective intersectional politics centred on
