DESCRIPTION:Non-neutral stratification can have an important role in mixin
g and dispersing pollutant plumes\, but systematic experiments are rare\,
despite the fact that stable or convective atmospheric conditions often re
present the majority of cases in actual urban flows. The EnFlo wind tunnel
at the University of Surrey is one of the very few facilities capable of
simulating these atmospheric flows. In this presentation I'm going to show
some of the recent results from the experimental work at EnFlo\, with par
ticular focus on flow and dispersion in urban areas. Experiments ranged fr
om fundamental studies in plume dispersion in non-neutral boundary layers
to applied research in urban fluid mechanics with and without local heat s
 ources.\n\n
