DESCRIPTION:Many results and conjectures in arithmetic geometry are founde
 d upon the belief that the rational points of Fano varieties are both abun
 dant and well-distributed. In this talk we focus on del Pezzo surfaces (di
 mension-two Fano varieties) and take weak approximation as our notion of a
 bundance/good distribution. We elucidate the geometric ideas behind recent
  results and ongoing work on weak approximation for del Pezzo surfaces of 
 low degree. This is based on joint work with Julian Demeio and Rosa Winter
 .
