SUMMARY:Exploring the outer solar system with space robots - Carly Howett

DESCRIPTION:Space robots have revolutionized our understanding of the oute
r solar system. For example\, Cassini showed us that Saturn’s small moon
Enceladus was active\, and New Horizons showed us that Pluto is too. We w
ill discuss what we know about this activity\, its implications\, and the
bumps along the way in discovering them. We will also look ahead to two up
coming missions\, and what they will teach us about activity\, habitabilit
y\, and the history of our solar system: Lucy and Europa Clipper. Finally\
, we will discuss some of my on-going research\, which focuses on better c
onstraining Enceladus' endogenic activity by analyzing data taken by Cassi
 ni's Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS).
