DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe notion of uncertainty relations has been recently 
 extended to Thermodynamics of non equilibrium systems. These relations&nbs
 p\; unveil useful connections between fluctuations in thermal systems and 
 entropy production. We have applied these ideas to&nbsp\; quantum mesoscop
 ic physics of light where fluctuations are due to coherent mesoscopic effe
 cts and entropy production is replaced by a cost function.&nbsp\; We have 
 identified this cost function in terms of the transmission coefficient and
  its importance will be demonstrated in few exemples including a new type 
 of Casimir forces induced by mesoscopic fluctuations.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n\nThis
  work has been done together with Ariane Soret and Ohad Shpielberg.\n&nbsp
