DESCRIPTION:Professor John Hardy is a world-renowned geneticist and has de
 voted his career to studying the genetics and molecular pathogenesis of ne
 urological disease. With over 23\,000 citations\, he is the most cited Alz
 heimer’s disease researcher in the UK (5th internationally) and in recog
 nition of his achievements was recently elected a fellow of the Royal Soci
 ety.\n\nHe was the first to identify a mutation in the gene encoding the 
 β-amyloid precursor protein in families with early-onset Alzheimer’s di
 sease and has also identified α-synuclein gene duplications as a cause of
  Parkinson's disease. Professor Hardy is the author of over 350 articles a
 nd a recipient of numerous awards including the Met Life Prize\, the Allie
 d Signal Prize\, the Potamkin Prize and the Annemarie Opprecht-Foundation
