DESCRIPTION:It from qubit — the slogan expresses the idea that informati
 on may play a crucial role in the foundations of physics. In this talk I w
 ill consider a particular branch of information theory\, quantum cryptogra
 phy\, and argue that it can provide useful insights into quantum gravity. 
 To illustrate this idea\, I will  explain how the quantum de Finetti theor
 em\, which originally was developed to enable security proofs of quantum k
 ey distribution\, yields answers to questions related to the Hawking radia
 tion emitted by black holes. (The talk is based on joint work with Jinzhao
  Wang\, arXiv:2110.14653).
