DESCRIPTION:The Standard Model (SM) of particle physics encodes our curren
t understanding of elementary particles. Despite having been tested by man
y experiments to a high level of accuracy\, no significant deviations fro
m SM predictions have been observed so far. With the start of the Large Ha
dron Collider (LHC) at CERN\, particle physics entered a new era. The most
sensational achievement of the LHC has been the detection of the Higgs bo
son. Although we may think that all pieces of the big jigsaw puzzle of Nat
ure have now been revealed\, astrophysical observation and our modern unde
rstanding of quantum field theories tell us that the SM is necessarily inc
omplete and cannot be valid up to any large scales. In this talk I will sh
ow how\nthe mathematics of Effective Field Theories and the wealth of expe
rimental data from LHC open a new fascinating journey exploring new physic
s scenarios beyond the Standard Model.
