DESCRIPTION:The course focuses on what are in my eyes the essential\naspec
 ts one must grasp to understand and write in the\nLanguage\, finishing wit
 h a full Program walk through. No\nprevious experience is needed. The cour
 se mainly deals\nwith the 77 Standard\, but considers those aspects of\nFo
 rtran 90 most likely to be encountered in and of\nmost value to scientific
  and mathematical programming.\n\nThe course comprises 6 one Hour Lectures
 . The first 2\ncover data representation and basic flow control\nconstruct
 s\, aimed at entry level Fortran programmers.\nThen Array handling\, Files
  and I/O and Program Units\,\nare visited\, and a full Program is walked t
 hrough\nin the last session. An hour seminar on High Performance\n(HPC) pr
 ogramming follows the course\, for all interested\n(whether or not they ca
 me to the earlier lectures).
