DESCRIPTION:The theory of profinite groups acting on profinite graphs is a
  very recent development in profinite rigidity\, modelled on the successes
  of classical Bass-Serre theory in geometric group theory. This talk will 
 be an introduction to the notions of profinite graphs and trees\, profinit
 e group actions on profinite trees\, and profinite graphs of groups. We wi
 ll explore the profinite structure theorem for profinite groups acting on 
 profinite trees with finite quotients and understand why a more general an
 alogue does not exist. As an application\, we will use this theory prove t
 he profinite Kurosh subgroup theorem.
