 s and the resulting non-communicable diseases such as cancer\, diabetes an
 d heart disease\, are a huge\, global public health challenge. In the UK\,
  the estimated annual cost of obesity to the NHS is £6.5 billion and wide
 r society £58 billion. How do we use evidence in primary prevention polic
 y? What are the opportunities for enhancing the relationship between evide
 nce and policy?\n\nAbout Dr Bhatia\nTazeem Bhatia is a Public Health Consu
 ltant and Primary Care physician with 20 years’ experience of medical an
 d public health practice in England and other health systems across the wo
 rld. Currently\, she is responsible for the Nutrition Science and Evidence
  Function in the Diet\, Obesity and Healthy Behaviours Directorate\, in th
 e Office of Health Improvement and Disparities\, part of the Department of
  Health and Social Care. Previously\, she has represented the UK/England d
 ietary landscape\, obesity policies and programmes internationally for Pub
 lic Health England.
