DESCRIPTION:In 2007\, Favre and Jonsson showed that the first dynamical de
 gree of any polynomial transformation of the complex affine plane is a qua
 dratic integer. We show that the result still holds for any endomorphism f
  of any affine surface X_0. In this talk\, I will present the main tool of
  the proof which is the use of valuations and explain the relation between
  the dynamics of f over X_0 and the dynamics of f over the space of valuat
 ions over X_0 centered at infinity.
