 s and brings benefits to the\ncommunity. However\, evidence suggests it al
 so suffers from a number of drawbacks\, such\nas slowness\, inefficiency a
 nd costliness. The talk will outline the new publishing model\nlaunched by
  eLife in January 2023 and describe how this model addresses some of the\n
 current drawbacks of scientific publishing.
