DESCRIPTION:I will present new and archival multi-frequency radio and X-ra
 y data for Centaurus A obtained over more than a decade at the VLA and wit
 h Chandra. I have used radio and X-ray flux variability\, polarization var
 iability\, spectral indices and proper motions of the jet knots in Cen A t
 o rule out impulsive particle acceleration in this jet and I will discuss 
 the most likely knot formation processes and the related particle accelera
 tion mechanisms.
