DESCRIPTION:Zooarchaeological analysis of fine screened animal bone and an
 cient DNA analysis of Pacific salmon recovered from shell midden sites in 
 the southern Strait of Georgia on the Pacific Northwest Coast provides det
 ailed information on subsistence practice. Together with other kinds of ma
 terial culture they also allow a consideration of patterns in land use tha
 t speak not only to issues of economy but also social interaction.
