DESCRIPTION:Join Professor Abraham P. Francis for this in-person talk as p
art of our 2022-23 'Community Series'.\n\nWe live in an interdependent wor
ld where every action has visible and invisible repercussions and effects
because we are inextricably linked. We live in a highly dynamic era in whi
ch disruption has become the norm and uncertainty our constant companion.
Indeed\, this disruption has had a significant impact on our families\, re
 lationships\, jobs\, communities\, economy\, political discourses\, and in
tercultural and international relations\, resulting in a profound effect o
n the well-being of individuals and communities. Such extraordinary times
are ripe for transformational breakthroughs and the birth of new paradigms
to help our society overcome the challenges it faces. How can individuals
and communities thrive despite adversity and uncertainty? According to sc
ientific evidence\, humans have the capacity to flourish. So\, what is pre
venting us from progressing is a crucial question posed in this presentati
on. Based on practise experience\, critical reflection\, and the literatur
e review\, this presentation aims to explore the concept of collective flo
urishing\, discuss new initiatives in this area\, and attempt to answer th
e question "what's holding us back?" How can we create a caring\, compassi
onate\, and hopeful culture in our communities? How can we unite our commu
nities and increase their capacity to respond to challenges and opportunit
 ies? \n\nhttps://www.lucy.cam.ac.uk/events/collective-flourishing-and-comm
