DESCRIPTION:Morphogenetic cell movements shape tissue and deliver speciali
sed cells to distant sites during development. Our lab undertakes interdi
sciplinary approaches to explore biophysical drivers of these processes in
the mouse embryo. In the limb bud\, we find a stiffness gradient is requ
ired for cell flows that remodel mesoderm. In contrast\, a stochastic mec
hanism may underlie the ingression of cranial neural crest cells. A small
set of biophysical rules may explain most morphogenetic events.
