DESCRIPTION:Initiators and explosive trains are found on virtually all pla
 tforms and in most munitions. Although small in their physical dimensions\
 , they are fundamental in ensuring the effectiveness of all weapons. New i
 nitiation technologies are critical to ensure that flexible and novel syst
 ems are available to weapon designers for the future requirements. The pre
 sentation will detail research undertaken through MoD's UK-Energetics cons
 ortium on new initiation techniques for future weapon systems.
