DESCRIPTION:Submillimetre Galaxies at z~2 are the most luminous\, heavily\
nstar-forming galaxies in the Universe. While observers have been\nrapidly
amassing clues regarding this enigmatic population\, the mere\nexistence
of these galaxies has remained a sticking point for\ntheoretical models. I
 n explaining their observed properties\, theorists\nhave required varied p
hysical deviancies from local Universe\nphenomena. I will argue that extra
ordinary physics is unnecessary to\nexplain this population.  In this tal
k\, I will present a merger-driven\nmodel that describes the formation and
evolution of SMGs which\naccurately reproduces the observed UV-mm wave SE
D\, the inferred\nphysical properties of the population\, and the observed
number counts.\nThis model provides a natural connection between SMGs\, 2
4 micron\nsources\, and BzK galaxies\, thus providing some synthesis to th
 e zoo of\ngalaxies being detected at high-z. Finally\, I will describe mod
el\ndistinguishing tests which will be feasible with the next generation\n
of telescopes (Herschel\, JWST and ALMA).\n\n
