DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, I will describe a striking oscillation associat
 ed to arithmetic datasets. The phenomenon was first discovered for sets of
  elliptic curves over Q (which correspond to weight 2 modular forms) and h
 as subsequently been observed for other automorphic representations. I wil
 l outline the data scientific perspective\, and review the current concept
 ual understanding. This talk is based on joint work with He\, Lee\, Pozdny
 akov\, and Sutherland.
