DESCRIPTION:The Cosmic Infrared Background (CIB) spans a wide range of red
shifts. Its measurements are thus a powerful tool to map the star formatio
n at high redshifts and connect the host dark matter halos with the galaxi
es residing in them. Also\, in cross-correlation with the cosmic microwave
background (CMB) and galaxies\, CIB acts as a cosmological observable. De
spite being an excellent astrophysical and cosmological probe\, CIB acts a
s a foreground for the CMB and line intensity mapping studies. In this tal
k\, I will explore both these sides and present a couple of novel ways the
CIB can act as a cosmological tool and a foreground. Finally\, I will als
o present a new estimator for detecting the screening of the CMB by the la
rge-scale structure which might provide us with a first-ever detection of
 this effect.
