DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we analyse the thermal contact resistance probl
em in a two-dimensional\, periodic\, two-phase medium with arbitrary shape
d adiabatic fractures. We investigate how the fracture shape and the enclo
sed area affect the quantitative measure $\\lambda$. Our analysis proceeds
via a transform approach based on the Unified Transform Method and the so
lutions for the corresponding temperature fields are obtained in a quasi-a
nalytical form. A number of example problems involving different fracture
shapes are presented. As a check\, our results are compared to exact or ap
proximate solutions for the cases for which these exist. This is joint wor
 k with Jonathan Marshall (UCL).
