DESCRIPTION:As more people work from home or during travel\, new opportuni
ties and challenges arise around mobile office work. On the one hand\, peo
ple may work at flexible hours\, independent of traffic limitations\, but
on the other hand\, they may need to work in makeshift spaces with less th
an optimal working conditions\; applications are not flexible to their phy
sical and social context and remote collaboration do not account for the d
ifference between the user's conditions and capabilities. Using better sce
ne understanding\, the ability to augment users' senses to disconnect them
from physical limitations\, and new architecture for developing applicati
ons that share the space with users can change how information workers wor
 k. I will display my research in various opportunities for realizing a mob
ile immersive working environment.\n\n*Speaker Bio:* I have received my Ph
.D. in computer vision from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem\, and in pa
rallel opened three startup companies\, pushing the boundaries of computer
graphics and computer vision\, from developing a popular novel photo edit
or to a graphic engine with global illumination effects to creating the wo
rld's first time of flight depth camera\, which is the base of the depth s
ensors of the HoloLens and Magic Leep HMDs. I joined Microsoft Research an
d was the head of Bing Maps & Mobile research\, developing new vision tech
nologies and geographic services such as the first street-side service. I
have formed a research group centered on augmented reality that developed
an experimental system for an environment-aware layout of augmented realit
y experiences. This system was used by HoloLens teams and was a base for t
he Unity Mars product. As a Principal Researcher of Microsoft Research\, I
focused on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and sensing and Mixed Reality
displays (MR) to enable users to reach their full potential in productivi
ty\, creativity\, and collaboration. I have been granted more than 120 pat
ents and published over 90 academic publications (with more than 14000 cit
ations)\, and I was awarded a senior member of Assoc. for Computing Machin
es (ACM). I am working with a new startup\, aiming to fight forest fires a
nd global warming using AI-Driven fire fighting.
