DESCRIPTION:The physical environment affects animal movement capacity and
movement costs. This can affect animal interactions because it affects whe
n\, where and how animals move. I will consider how animal-attached logger
s can provide insight into this interaction cascade\, from birds circling
in thermal updrafts\, to aerial predators that must camouflage their movem
ents to reduce their chances of being detected. In these examples\, accele
rometers\, magnetometers\, and other sensors recording multiple times a se
cond\, can shed light on how the physical environment can affect animal in
teractions from fine scales (less than a metre) to hundreds of metres.
