DESCRIPTION:In this work we investigate the mechanisms behind the long ran
 ge alignment of ellipse shaped cells\, motivated by experimental observati
 ons of fibroblast alignment in fibrotic tissue. We start by deriving and s
 imulating an agent based model that incorporates physical\, force based in
 teractions between cells\, and then extend the model to account for shape
 changes and cell-cell junctions. Analytical techniques can be used to unde
 rstand the alignment properties of the model for two interacting cells und
 er certain symmetry conditions. We can then simulate the full model to exp
 lore whether our analytical results are reflected in the collective behavi
 our of the system.&nbsp\;
