DESCRIPTION:The Indus ‘Civilization’ is one of the oldest civilization
s contemporary to the Mesopotamian and Egyptian Civilizations\, resulting
in the first cities of South Asia in c. 2500- 1900 BC. However\, it is oft
en excluded when ‘civilizations’ are discussed as it does not complete
ly fit into the defined characteristics. The absence of such factors does
not negate the idea of an Indus state but rather opens up conversations ab
out a state’s possible definitions and characteristics. As the language
of the Indus remains undeciphered\, we have to depend solely on pure archa
eological evidence to provide answers and in this vein\, the paper utilize
s ornamentation in the Indus Valley to provide conclusions on the social\,
  economic\, and political dimensions.
