DESCRIPTION:How can protein engineering prepare us for the next pandemic?
\nYou may have heard that mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell\, bu
t proteins run the show. Proteins are the molecules that do all the work t
o keep your cells running and your body alive and healthy. We can also de
sign proteins for a multitude of purposes - such as making vaccines.\n\nI
will talk about how we make self-assembling protein nanoparticles to displ
ay viral components in a modular plug-and-play process using Spytag/SpyCat
cher technology. This vaccine platform can be mass-produced and ready to g
o in advance - which may be valuable to rapidly react to new pathogens. Co
me along to learn about vaccine development\, or just to admire beautiful
 protein structures.\n
