DESCRIPTION:Wearable devices that enable cardiac monitoring are becoming w
idely available and could be used to assess cardiovascular health status a
nd risk assessment for anyone\, anywhere and at any time. This talk provid
es an overview of our work on assessing the potential of using wearable-de
rived cardiac signals to predict current health status and future cardiova
scular events in the general population. We will present several applicati
ons based on the use of wearable-format electrocardiograms\, wearable-deri
ved long-term heart rate monitoring and remote physical tests in populatio
n-based studies. Strengths and limitations of these approaches will be dis
cussed as well as future directions.
