DESCRIPTION:Infrastructures of the Interspatial Interlacer and other tales
...\nSession outline-\nMark Eaglen is a multi disciplinary artist explorin
g relationships of Art\, Science\, Technology and Nature. &nbsp\;The sessi
on will provide an overview of his artistic practice with an emphasis upon
recent works in development as part of &lsquo\;Infrastructures of the Int
erspatial Interlacer&rsquo\;.&nbsp\; This will feature examples that call
upon responsive Voronoi generation\, real time processing and sculptural i
nvestigations of the Scutoid form.&nbsp\;\nThe most recent work- &lsquo\;Q
uantum Foam and the Scutoid variations&rsquo\; explores the spaces in betw
een\; ideas of cause and effect across shifting states of scale and time.&
nbsp\; The piece is grounded in research across quantum theory\, newly dis
covered biological structures and dynamic systems found in nature. Despite
these scientific underpinnings\, the work seeks to engage poetries of ass
ociation that place your own reflections and connections at the heart of t
he experience.\nThe session will conclude with a sharing of this new inter
active work\, presented as an instrument through which participants can &l
squo\;play&rsquo\; relationships of point\, line and space.&nbsp\; Explori
ng evolving structures\, forms and scales\; the work invites you to naviga
te the delicate balance found between such shifting states and the complex
ities that arise over time.\nArtists statement-\nAn active engagement with
experimentation informs evolving works that often employ traditional proc
esses alongside developments in technology and scientific discovery.&nbsp\
; This responsive approach has led enquiries into data manipulation\, resp
onsive forms\, holography\, interactive works and the playful exploration
of concepts through open narratives.&nbsp\;\nPrevious developments have ex
plored the nature of video feedback* in regard to the process\, aesthetics
and concepts raised.&nbsp\; This has highlighted visual and behavioural a
ssociations found between the natural world and technological systems\, al
ongside the reciprocal roles of the transmitter and receiver.&nbsp\;\nScie
ntific discovery and speculation often inspire exploratory pathways\, but
rather than illustrate such sources\; the works seek to encourage wider co
nnections and contexts of association.&nbsp\; Recent investigations have b
een exploring ideas of interdependencies\, inspired by behaviours\, struct
ures and dynamic systems found across scales in the natural world and the
infrastructures that we form within it.\nInformed by discoveries in previo
us works\, the ongoing development is iterative in its approach\; continui
ng to engage with the wider aesthetic and conceptual associations raised t
hrough responsive sculptural experimentation\, interactive systems of auto
nomy and challenging modes of perception.\nWorks have been exhibited natio
nally and internationally with key developments kindly supported and enabl
ed by the Arts Council of Wales through residencies\, solo and group exhib
itions.&nbsp\; This has resulted in works longlisted and shown in the Inte
rnational Emerging Artist Award in Dubai\, the National Eisteddfod of Wale
s\, the Lumen Art Prize\, Ars Electronica and the Aesthetica Art Prize\, w
ith work published within the Future Now 100 artists anthology selected fr
om over 3500 entries.\nHe is cofounder of studioMADE with Angela Davies\,
a cross disciplinary studio and gallery space seeking to inspire connectiv
ity within a complex world.&nbsp\; Alongside his artistic practice\, he ha
s maintained an active role within Arts education for over twenty years\,
lecturing on a range of undergraduate courses in the Arts.\n*Video feedbac
