DESCRIPTION:The talk will introduce some key strategies enabling to achiev
 e a progressive failure response starting from composites with brittle con
 stituents. The interaction of elementary degradation mechanisms with the a
 rchitecture at different scales\, including structural features\, calls fo
 r specific modelling\, simulation\, and characterization strategies. A foc
 us is made on the propagation of cracks at a weak interface\, as it is the
  case in laminated composites and bonded joints. Some ideas for further re
 search and collaborations regarding architected lattice conclude the talk.
