DESCRIPTION:Come hear Professor Geoffrey Wood (Professor of Economics\, Ca
 ss Business\nSchool) put the collapse of Northern Rock in its historical c
 ontext. His investigations\ninto Northern Rock's governance may dismay and
  surprise you\, but you will\ncome away with a much better understanding o
 f the current crisis. From 1994 to\n2004\, Professor Wood was a Special Ad
 visor on Financial Stability to the Bank\nof England\, and has also been a
  visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of\nNew York\, the New Zeala
 nd Treasury\, and the Bank of Finland.  He is on the\nEditorial Boards of 
 the Greek Economic Review\, The Journal of Financial Education\,\nthe Euro
 pean Journal of Political Economy\, and is a General Editor of the Journal
 \nof Financial Regulation.\n\nBoth members of the college and the general 
 public are welcome to attend this\nlecture\, which inaugurates the term's 
 Financial History Seminar at the newly\nestablished Centre for Financial H
