DESCRIPTION:Restraining or slowing ageing hallmarks at the cellular level
have been proposed as a route to increased organismal lifespan. Prof. Cleo
Bishop is the Director of the Queen Mary University of London Phenotypic
Screening Facility and a group leader\, whose research focuses on molecula
r mechanisms of senescence and ways to minimise it as a means of cellular
rejuvenation. Her group has developed a novel screening platform for the e
xpedited discovery of compounds that restrain cellular ageing in vitro and
enable extension of in vivo lifespan. Their method expands the scope of C
pG methylation profiling to accurately and rapidly detecting anti-ageing p
otential of drugs using human cells in vitro and in vivo. This provides a
novel accelerated discovery platform to test sought after anti-ageing comp
 ounds and geroprotectors.
