DESCRIPTION:Dr Cintia Roodveldt\n\nUniversity of Seville\n\nBiography\n\nA
fter graduating in Biotechnology (Universidad Nacional del Litoral\, Argen
tina\, 1999)\, Dr Roodveldt completed a PhD (2005\, The Weizmann Institut
 e of Science\, Israel\; Dan S. Tawfik’s lab) in the field of ‘enzyme e
volution and emergence of new enzyme functions’. She then undertook a Po
stdoc at Prof. Chris M. Dobson’s lab (University of Cambridge\, 2006-200
9)\, investigating the ‘molecular mechanisms of Hsp70 chaperone system a
 nd a-synuclein aggregates linked to Parkinson’s disease’.\n\nIn 2009 s
 he joined David Pozo’s lab\, a neuroimmunology lab\, at CABIMER Center (
Seville\, Spain) and started a new line of research on the effect of prote
in aggregates in innate immunity. Since 2012\, and having attained competi
tive tenure track positions (e.g. ‘Ramón y Cajal’ Researcher)\, they
have led a research team studying the ‘mechanisms of microglial neuroinf
lammation triggered by a-synuclein aggregates and novel immunization strat
egies in Parkinson’. Her current research lines focus on the ‘identifi
cation of new signalling pathways and therapeutic targets related to immun
e dysregulation in neurodegenerative diseases\, particularly ALS and Parki
 nson’.\n\nZoom link: https://zoom.us/j/97143593246?pwd=ckVsZFo2ZGlPei8vV
