DESCRIPTION:In this seminar\, I will talk about perturbative fragmentation
  functions\, in particular those describing the production of a massive qu
 ark\, and how they can be used to resum a certain class of logarithms pres
 ent in cross sections involving a high-energy massive quark. I will also p
 resent a recent extraction of the non-perturbative fragmentation function 
 describing the transition of a b-quark to a B-hadron\, as well as a novel 
 method of describing the decay of a particle using fragmentation functions
 . All of these ingredients were used in a NNLO cross section calculation o
 f top-pair production at the LHC in association with a B-hadron\, and I wi
 ll be presenting some of the results of that calculation as well.
