DESCRIPTION:      Mathematicians sit at the heart of technological advance
 ment and\n      industrial progress. Mathematics is a universal tool. It c
 an be used for\n      good\, and it can be used for harm. To begin\, we lo
 ok at where harmful\n      situations may arise\, and what exactly we as m
 athematicians are doing to\n      contribute to that harm. Though this har
 m may not (necessarily) come from\n      intentional malice\, there are ma
 ny situations\, and people\, who can\n      influence and manipulate us in
 to carrying out harmful acts as\n      mathematicians. It is important to 
 be able to recognise and react to these\n      scenarios\, as we cannot al
 ways rely on external forces such as management\n      to guide what we do
 .\n
