DESCRIPTION: Just like every other academic field\, mathematicians fo
rm their own\n community\, with their own conventions\, common belief
s\, and schools of\n thought. We hand our teachings down through the
generations\, and this\n process goes all the way back to Euclid. But
the ways of thinking we\n employ when doing mathematics in an abstra
ct research setting may not\n serve us well in an industrial setting.
It is important to be aware that\n not all the actions that make us
good at mathematics will necessarily lead\n to us producing good solu
tions to industrial or social problems. In fact\,\n some of our ways
of viewing and approaching problems will hold us back\n when working
 outside academia.\n
