DESCRIPTION:We prove that the intrinsic Riemannian geometry of compact cro
 ss-sections of any Einstein extremal horizon must admit a Killing vector f
 ield. If the cross-sections are two-dimensional spheres\, this implies tha
 t the most general solution is the extremal Kerr horizon and completes the
  classification of the associated near-horizon geometries.\nThis is based 
 on a joint work with James Lucietti.
