DESCRIPTION:The ATLAS level-1 calorimeter trigger (L1Calo) is a hardware s
 ystem that identifies events containing calorimeter-based physics objects 
 (e.g. jets\, missing ET \, e/γ\, τ s). In preparation for Run 3 with inc
 reased pileup\, L1Calo implemented a significant programme of upgrades. Th
 e combined effort of L1Calo UK over many years resulted in a 20% rate redu
 ction of e/γ rate with similar thresholds. This seminar aims to give an i
 dea of the broad array of work that was needed to make this happen.
