DESCRIPTION:*ABSTRACT*: Sensing is an effective means to connect the physi
cal world and digital space. Exploring the intelligent sensing capability
has drawn researcher’s great attention. It is quite excited to see in re
cent years\, besides wearable sensing\, people have also begun to explore
the acoustic\, wireless signal\, light\, and other ambient communication m
edium’s capability for sensing purpose.\n\nIn this talk\, I will introdu
ce some of our work related to how to leverage the wearables and the commu
nication medium's sensing capability to enable smart healthcare applicatio
ns\, especially focus on home care scenario. \n\n*BIO*: Prof. Zhang joined
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in Sept. 2005 wher
e she is now Tencent Professor of Engineering and Chair Professor of the D
epartment of Computer Science and Engineering. She is now also serving as
the Acting Head of Division of Integrative System and Design (ISD) of HKUS
 T. She is also serving as the co-director of Huawei-HKUST innovation lab\,
the director of digital life research center\, and the director of Micros
oft Research Asia (MSRA) Information Technology Key Laboratory of HKUST. \
n\nBefore that\, she was in Microsoft Research Asia\, Beijing\, from July
1999\, where she was the research manager of the Wireless and Networking G
roup. \n\nDr. Zhang has published more than 400 refereed papers in interna
tional leading journals and key conferences. She is the inventor of more t
han 50 granted international patents. Her current research interests inclu
de Internet of Things (IoT)\, smart health\, mobile computing and sensing\
, wireless networking\, as well as cyber security.\n\nShe is a Fellow of t
he IEEE and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Science (HKAE
S). Dr. Zhang has received MIT TR100 (MIT Technology Review) world's top y
oung innovator award. She received the Best Paper Awards in several intern
ational conferences.\nDr. Zhang served as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Trans. o
n Mobile Computing (TMC) from 2020 to 2022. She is a member of Steering Co
mmittee of IEEE Infocom and IEEE Trans. on Games. \nDr. Zhang received the
  B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Wuhan University\, China\, in 1994 and 1999\,
  respectively\, all in computer science.\n
