DESCRIPTION:Co-located collaborative web-browsing is a relatively\ncommon 
 task and yet is poorly supported by conventional\ntools. Prior research in
  this area has focused on adapting\nconventional browsing interfaces to ad
 d collaboration\nsupport. Our research explores an alternative\napproach\,
  by applying ideas from tabletop interfaces. We\npresent WebSurface\, a no
 vel tabletop interface for\ncollaborative web-browsing. WebSurface explore
 s two\ndesign challenges of this approach: providing sufficient\nresolutio
 n for legible text\; and navigating through\ninformation. We report our ea
 rly experiences with an\nexploratory user study\, in which pairs of collab
 orators\ngathered information using WebSurface. The findings\nsuggest that
  a tabletop approach for collaborative webbrowsing\ncan help address limit
 ations of conventional\ntools\, and presents beneficial affordances for in
 formation\nlayout.\n
