DESCRIPTION:The interaction of a thin gaseous disc and a binary has astrop
hysical importance across scales\, from sculpting of planetary and stellar
systems to mergers of supermassive black hole binaries. I will present re
cent work on orbital evolution of binaries in circumbinary discs and the c
onsequences for supermassive black hole binaries.
