 kpala Campus\, P. O. Box 1350\, Tamale\, Ghana\nAbstract\nA heat transfer
problem of a chemically reactive fluid across exponentially stretching ver
tical surface with transverse magnetic field in an unsteady porous medium
has been elucidated. The problem is modeled as a tempo-spatial partial dif
ferential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. A transformation
technique based on similarity analysis results in dimensionless equations
which are solved by means of Approximate Analytic Method. The results are
illustrated graphically and compared with previously published results wh
ich shown a good agreement. It is noted that high Eckert number increases
the kinetic energy of the fluid and as a novelty\, the Eckert number under
the influence of chemically reactive magnetic field is effective in contr
olling the heat flow in porous medium. Whilst Eckert number improves the t
hermal boundary layer thickness\, there is a retarding flow due to the pre
sence of the magnetic field and a reduced skin friction due to the chemica
l reaction parameter. Reduced skin friction is beneficial in various appli
cations such as aerodynamics\, hydrodynamic and the design of efficient tr
ansportation systems. The present study results are also applicable in mat
erials processing and solar energy collector systems.\nKeywords: Heat tran
