DESCRIPTION:There are regular features in the media regarding electric car
s but seemingly less interest in trucks and large vehicles.\n\nWelch's Tra
nsport Ltd\, is a prominent and forward-thinking family owned and operated
freight transport company based in Duxford\, Cambridgeshire. For nearly 9
 0 years\, the company has operated as a traditional logistics provider\, f
ocusing primarily on delivering goods efficiently. However\, the company h
as recognised the pressing need for sustainable practices within the trans
port and logistics industry. This realisation became a catalyst for their
transformation and led to them being one of the first operators of a fully
electric\, Battery Electric (BEV) 19 tonne rigid\, in the UK.\nIn this ta
lk Chris Welch\, Commercial & Operations Director at Welch's will explore
the company's early adoption of sustainable supply chain models\, includin
g the introduction of AI into its fleet optimisation. Chris will also expl
ain how this will help create the UK’s first autonomous traffic office a
nd its ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental footprint in one of the
most polluting industries in the UK.
