DESCRIPTION:The FIRST LEGO League engages children in playful and meaningf
 ul learning while helping them discover the fun in science and technology.
  In the UK\, the League is supported by the IET and delivered by teams of 
 volunteers across the country. A local team\, the Cambourne Electronics an
 d Robotics Club (CERC) with over 6500 students\, has an impressive record 
 in the competition and has won the Cambridgeshire heat of the annual event
  5 times.\n\nIn this talk\, Dr. Sujit Bhattacharya\, will explain the obje
 ctives of the First Lego League and tell us about the CERC and its success
 es in the competition. He will describe the Club's activities\, its challe
 nges and the positive impact it has had on students and society. On its jo
 urney to excellence in STEM it has become one of the largest clubs in the 
 UK and has given an opportunity for many to join and contribute to a brigh
 ter future.\n\nDr. Sujit Bhattacharya is the Founder and mentor of the Cam
 bourne Electronics and Robotics Club (CERC)\, the Cambridge Electronics an
 d Robotics Academy (CERA) and the Cambridge Innovation Foundation (CiF). H
 e has significant research and development experience specialising in Sign
 al Processing in the Space and Radar sectors. He has a PhD in Signal Proce
 ssing from the University of Edinburgh and a Masters from the Indian Insti
 tute of Science. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE\, a Member of the IET a
 nd a Fellow of the IETE.
