ruction - Stephen Kell (University of Cambridge)

DESCRIPTION:Conventional programming tools are designed according to sever
al harmful and false assumptions: that software necessarily consists of pl
ug-compatible modules\; that interoperation between software stacks is rar
e\; that information hiding is a sufficient strategy against coupling. I w
ill briefly present an alternative vision\, based on tool support for "int
erface hiding"\, a strongly-enforced separation of concerns between integr
ation and functionality in software. This will include both argument and (
some\, preliminary) experimental evidence.\n\nThis is a practice for a (ve
ry) short talk at the forthcoming Onward! conference.
