DESCRIPTION:Stem cell research provokes\, in equal measure\, exaggerated c
laims of miracle cures and moral outrage over "cannibalism" of human embry
os. In reality\, stem cells are basic building blocks of life and objects
of scientific wonder. Unlocking their secrets will illuminate our unders
tanding of fundamental processes in human biology and disease. In this lec
ture Professor Smith shares with us the current state of knowledge of this
  important field.
