DESCRIPTION:Zipf posited that wordforms are optimized to minimize utteranc
 es’ communicative costs. He supported this claim by showing that words
 ’ lengths are inversely correlated with their frequencies. This correlat
 ion\, however\, is only expected if one assumes that a words’ communicat
