DESCRIPTION:The introduction of the Lego Mindstorms NXT system has make it
possible to demonstrate feedback control principles in a convincing way u
sing Lego models. I now use a number of such models in the second year int
roductory control course to illustrate: basic control action\, impulse\, s
tep and frequency responses (including building up Bode and Nyquist diagra
ms in real time)\, PID controllers\, the Nyquist stability criterion and l
oop shaping design. In this lecture I will run through these demos and the
  associated teaching material.
