DESCRIPTION:After last week's introduction to the general theory of persis
 tent homology\, we will focus on two applications to symplectic geometry t
 his week. The first one is to Hofer geometry. Here we will discuss works o
 f Biran and Cornea and of Zapolsky. We will also sketch a second class of 
 applications. These are robust obstructions to a Hamiltonian diffeomorphis
 m being a full k-th power due to Polterovich and Shelukhin.
